Szilárd Macher je med letoma 1985 in 1991 študiral na baletni šoli za umetnost v Győru, nato pa do leta 1994 na Madžarski plesni akademiji v Budimpešti. Po diplomi so mu ponudili pogodbo z Madžarskim nacionalnim baletom, kjer je plesal do leta 2020, ko je bil promoviran v solista.
Plesal je Princa (Hrestač), Rotbarta, Pas de trois v Labodjem jezeru, Kmečki pas de deux v Giselle, Waclawa v Bakhchisarajski fontani, Karenina v Anni Karenini, Gremina v Onjeginu, Parisa v Romeu in Juliji, Charlesa Hamiltona in Gospoda Kennedyja v Gone with the Wind, Gospoda v Tragediji človeka), Adama v Tricky Students, Čarovnico v Sneguljčici, Velikega Brahmina v La Bayadére, Štiri madžarske uradnike v Mayerlingu ter glavne vloge v baletih Georga Balanchina (Serenada, Simfonija v C, Mesečnica), Jiříja Kyliana (Šest plesov), Hansa van Manena (Pet tangov, Concertante, Adagio Hammerklavier), Roberta Northa (Smrt in dekle), Ninette de Valois (Šah), Kennetha MacMillana (Koncert), Gyule Harangoza (Poloveški plesi), Lilla Pártaya (Bolero, Othello, Zlati čopič), Imre Dózse (Adagietto) in Andrása Lukácsa (Povezava).
Leta 2002 je prejel nagrado Junior Interlyra, leta 2007 mu je madžarsko Ministrstvo za kulturo podelilo nagrado Gyula Harangozó, leta 2017 pa je prejel Zlati križ za zasluge na Madžarskem. Z Madžarskim nacionalnim baletom je gostoval v ZDA, Mehiki, na Kitajskem, Japonskem, v Španiji, na Nizozemskem, Finskem in bil vabljen na mednarodne gala koncerte v Rusiji, Avstriji, Italiji, Veliki Britaniji, na Finskem ter v Budimpešti v spomin na Rudolfa Nurejeva.
Leta 1998 je diplomiral iz baletne pedagogike, leta 2003 iz plesne teorije in kritike na Madžarski plesni akademiji, leta 2007 pa je na Univerzi za gledališko in filmsko umetnost (SZFE) magistriral kot koreograf.
Leta 1998 je postal učitelj baleta na Madžarski plesni univerzi, leta 2018 pa je prejel naziv univerzitetnega profesorja. Leta 2010 je bil imenovan za direktorja Zavoda za izobraževanje plesnih umetnikov, od leta 2020 pa je prorektor na Madžarski baletni univerzi.
Njegovi učenci so prejeli številne nagrade na mednarodnih baletnih tekmovanjih, prav tako pa so člani številnih baletnih ansamblov po vsem svetu (Balet Semperopere v Dresdenu, Kraljevega švedskega baleta, Tulsa baleta, Baleta v Hong Kongu, Dunajskega državnega baleta, Baleta v Mainzu, hrvaških in madžarskih nacionalnih baletnih ansamblov, Ansambla Hofesh Shechter, Frankfurtskega plesnega ansambla, baletnega ansambla opere v Göteborgu in drugih). Bil je gostujoči učitelj v Amsterdamu, Oslu in Helsinkih, na Tajvanu ter poučeval na raznih mednarodnih plesnih poletnih seminarjih in festivalih. Bil je tudi baletni mojster Madžarskega nacionalnega baleta, baleta Formosa (Tajvan), baleta Preljocaj in mednarodnega baletnega tekmovanja Nurejeva.
Bil je član žirije na Mia Corak Slavenska IBC (Zagreb, 2016), 12th IBC – Sicily (2017), Anna Pavlova BC (Firence, 2018), Pacific IBC (Tokio, 2019). Deluje tudi kot plesni kritik in teoretik pri reviji Hungarian Dance Magazine.

Studied at the Győr Ballet School of the Arts between 1985 and 1991 and then at the Hungarian Dance Academy until 1994. After graduation he was offered a contract to the Hungarian National Ballet where he danced until 2020, in 2000 was promoted to Soloist.
Most important roles at HNB: Prince (The Nutcracker), Rotbart, Pas de trois (Swan Lake), Peasant pas de deux (Giselle), Waclaw (The Fountain of Bakhchisaray), Karenin (Anna Karenina), Gremin (Onegin), Paris (Romeo and Juliet), Charles Hamilton, Mr. Kennedy (Gone with the Wind), The Lord (The Tragedy of Man), Adam (Tricky Students), The Witch (Snow White), The High Brahmin (La Bayadére), Four Hungarian Officiers (Mayerling), principal parts in ballets by Balanchine (Serenade, Symphony in C, La Sonnambula) and solos in works of Kylian (Six Dances), van Manen (Five Tangos, Concertante, Adagio Hammerklavier), North (Death and the Maiden), de Valois (Checkmate), MacMillan (Concerto), Harangozó (Polovetsian Dances), Pártay (Bolero, Othello, The Golden Brush), Dózsa (Adagietto) and Lukács (Connection).
He received Junior Interlyra Award in 2002, Harangozó Gyula Prize from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture in 2007 and Golden Cross of Merit of Hungary in 2017. Toured with HNB in USA, Mexico, China, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, Finland and was invited to international gala performances in Russia, Austria, Italy, Great-Britain, Finland as well as in Budapest in the memory of Rudolf Nureyev.
He graduated as ballet-teacher (BA) in 1998 and as dance theoretician and critic (BA) in 2003 at HDA, and at the University of Theatre and Film Arts (SZFE) he got MA diploma as choreographer in 2007. Earned a DLA in 2015.
Teacher at the Hungarian Dance Academy/University from 1998, since 2018 as University Professor. In 2010 was appointed as Director of Institute for Training Dance Artists. Vice-Rector since 2020.
His students won numerous awards at international ballet competitions and they are members of different companies worldwide (Semperoper Ballett Dresden, The Royal Swedish Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Vienna Staatsballet, Ballet Mainz, Croatian and Hungarian National Ballet companies, Hofesh Shechter Company, Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani etc). He was a guest teacher/giving workshops in Amsterdam, in Oslo and Helsinki, in Taiwan and was teaching at the International Summer Courses and Dance Festivals of HDU, and Slovenia. Was also ballet master of the Hungarian National Ballet, Formosa Ballet (Taiwan), Ballet Preljocaj and Nureyev International Ballet Competition.
He was member of the jury at the Mia Corak Slavenska IBC (Zagreb, 2016), 12th IBC – Sicily (2017), Anna Pavlova BC (Florence, 2018), Pacific IBC (Tokyo, 2019). Also working as a dance critic and theoretician at Hungarian Dance Magazine.
